Welcome to the Clinton Historical Society!

The Clinton Historical Society preserves Clinton’s history in a collection of museums including our historic house museum — the 1750 Elisha White House known as “Old Brick.” We also maintain the George Flynn Library, the Buell Tool Museum, historic gardens, and the Museum Room in Clinton’s Town Hall. All are free and open to the public.

CHS Receives Grant From Connecticut Humanities

The CHS board is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a Connecticut Cultural Fund Operating Grant by Connecticut Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. We will use these funds to improve our programming, expand our website, add technical capabilities to our library, and cover certain operating costs. The entire CHS board would like to extend a sincere thank you to Connecticut Humanities for this wonderful opportunity!

Plein Air Painting in Our Gardens

In June, members of the Clinton Art Society visited CHS for a plein air painting session in the beautiful gardens at Old Brick. The shade was cool, flowers were blooming and the tubes of paint full. Thank you all for dropping by — the gardens are always open to you.
